using bird songs

This morning I suggested to a friend that she go to Rocky Nook Park to see the now-famous Painted Redstart. She spotted it immediately in the oak but before she could see it in her binocs, it flew away possibly because another birder repeatedly played its call.  I believe this is poor birding etiquette.

The same species spent most of the winter last year in downtown Berkeley, mostly in an oak.  I hope "our" bird returns.
