Late this afternoon, and not for the first time this fall, there was a flock of
geese feeding on the playing field at La Cumbre Junior High School (Modoc
Road). There were 13 Greater White-fronted Geese and 6 Cackling Geese. The
latter were of the expected Aleutian subspecies. FYI, the 12 Cackling Geese I
saw at Hollister School on September 25th were of the much rarer minima
subspecies (at least the majority of them were minima).
