One more important note: The Andree Clark Bird Refuge is currently pretty close to the mandatory evacuation zone for the Thomas Fire, which pushed well into Santa Barbara County over night. The threat is currently in the mountains and foothills, more than along the coast. I haven't heard that US 101 has closed at all during the day, but it has been closed for periods off and on the past several days. I can tell you that the air quality has been horrible for days. Most of us are wearing masks when we go out. If you plan to come down here in the next 24 hours, I can't guarantee what sort of situation you'll be coming into. At the very least, you'll encounter a lot of smoke and ash. Not sure if there will be any access issues.
