Bird Refuge and Goleta Sanitary District Today

At the Bird Refuge, the water level is significantly lower than I have ever seen it.  The entire area between the far western platform and the zoo is dry.  Most interesting bird was the continuing Marsh Wren.  No sign of the LeConte’s Sparrow.

Things were slightly better at the Goleta Sanitary District.  A Western Sandpiper and a few Blue-winged Teal, along with a couple of Mew Gulls.  The most striking bird was the continuing Cinnamon Teal x Northern Shoveler hybrid drake, though this is not helpful for the Christmas Bird Count.
