Lots of Grasshopper Sparrows on the Point Sal trail

John Callender

I did the hike this morning from the end of Brown Road/Corralitos Canyon to Point Sal State Beach (almost; I didn’t go all the way down to the beach at the end). The highlight for me was the large number of Grasshopper Sparrows; I counted 15, including some at close range.

It was somewhat foggy at the coast, which made it hard to see much in the way of pelagics or shorebirds. But the view was nice.
