Eastern Kingbird (Tyrannus tyrannus) (1)
- Reported Sep 03, 2018 11:27 by David Compton
- Lake Los Carneros, Santa Barbara, California
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&q=34.44322,-119.84975&ll=34.44322,-119.84975
- Checklist: https://ebird.org/view/checklist/S48271165
- Comments: "Continuing bird. Seen for long periods on dead tree tops on the west edge of the lake. Essentially dark above and white below, with a white tip to the tail. Closer inspection revealed a dark wash on the sides of the upper breast, dark brownish flight feathers with white edges, and brown edges to the lesser and median coverts. The tail appeared worn, so that the white tip was reduced compared to typical fresh-plumaged individuals. The dark gray of the cap extended down through the eyes and auriculars, and the lower border was sharp. The eyes and bill were dark. The bill was also relatively small for a kingbird bill, especially when compared to Tropical."
