White border along base of lower bill and gape, tapering back onto cheek in a whiteish indistinct chevron. Overall body color brownish gray, a little lighter mottling on the breast. Observed at length while bird was perched on a eucalyptus snag near half bridge at southern end of slough, in flight, and while actively diving."

- Comments: "Contining immature bird found yesterday. Seen at close range perched in dead Eucalyptus branches at pull-out near half bridge. Active; the bird flew around several times, perched a couple of times briefly and then went down to water in the slough. Smaller than nearby Double-crested, with proportionally longer tail and smaller head. Yellow at base of bill with pale feathered border below. Paler check patch, darker lores, greenish eyes."

Neotropic Cormorant (Phalacrocorax brasilianus) (1) CONFIRMED
- Reported Jun 01, 2019 08:55 by Jamie Chavez
- Devereux Slough, Santa Barbara, California
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&q=34.4136013,-119.8756027&ll=34.4136013,-119.8756027
- Checklist: https://ebird.org/view/checklist/S56964965

- Comments: "First county record found by Nick Lethaby the previous day. This cormorant has been moving between Devereux Slough, UCSB Lagoon, and Goleta Beach slough mouth since it was found and has been seen and photographed by others. The bird was located perched on a snag over the estuary by the closed bridge. It was nearby to other Double-crested Cormorants in the tree but not close enough for a direct comparison so confirmation that this was a Neotropic Cormorant was problematic for me until it could be studied. It was identified by its slighter build, long tail, and smaller bill compared to Double-crested Cormorant. The bill color was a dull gray with some yellow-orange on it, and there was a pale whitish border around the bill on the face. The plumage seemed darker overall than might be found on a typical immature Double-crested Cormorant. When seen in flight the long tail was a prominent feature."

- Checklist: https://ebird.org/view/checklist/S56964167
- Media: 4 Photos
- Comments: "On sand across from parking lot, below heron rookery. Much smaller than nearby Double-crested Cormorants. Flew to the west a few minutes after I arrived."

Neotropic Cormorant (Phalacrocorax brasilianus) (1) CONFIRMED
- Reported May 31, 2019 18:30 by Mark Holmgren
- UC Santa Barbara--Lagoon, Santa Barbara, California
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&q=34.4071221,-119.8483944&ll=34.4071221,-119.8483944
- Checklist: https://ebird.org/view/checklist/S56984184
- Comments: "Small, long tailed, immature cormorant. Yellow gular sac did not extend onto throat, was cornered, not rounded under eye. Pouch showed a vague border of white. Bird was about 80% the size of nearby Doulbe-crested Cormorants."
