- Comments: "We parked on Shoreline Drive and entered from the west. All sightings were in the western half of the mesa. Two Short-eared Owls were seen in flight at the same time initially, then individually between 4:34 and 5:04 PM. (Sunset was at 4:43 PM.) At times a Northern Harrier was seen nearby, and on four occasions swooped down on an owl that had landed on the ground, often scaring it off. It was fascinating to observe this excellent example of convergent evolution, and the suite of anatomical and behavioral traits that these two species share."

- Comments: "Initially found by Joan Kent, heard the bird calling briefly in the Eugenia trees east of the house. I had a quick view of the underside of the bird before it flew off to the northeast. Generally bright yellow under the tail, with a quick view of slightly darker wing tips. Called “pit-i-tuck!” a few times when it was high in the tree (which is full of ripe Eugenia cherries)."
