UCSB overlook
All:
At lunch I caught up with the Juv Baird's and also found a Solitary
Sandpiper. Numbers of other shorebirds, especially Wilson's Phalaropes seem
to be down a bit.

Sharp-shinned Hawk
Late this morning a Sharp-shinned Hawk flew over the Isla Vista vernal pool
area towards the Isla Vista School. It soared in circles as sharpies often
do. Oddly, it also hovered kestral-like over

Nighthawk again at Area K
The female or juv Lesser nighthawk was again at the Campus overlook to Area
K this evening from about 7:45 to shortly after 8pm. A Blue Grosbeak was
calling from somewhere below the bluff. A

UCSB overlooks
All:
I checked the UCSB overlook at lunch for about 45 minutes. There were
several other birders present. There are now a lot more peeps around, both
Least and Westerns. Also there were 2

All:
Did a couple of hours birding Sunday evening. Checked the old oil platform
off Bell's Creek for boobies, Frigatebirds, etc. but no luck. Devereux had
nothing of interest. Missed the Pectoral at

On Sunday, between 4-4:30 p.m., we also checked out the overlook area.
No sign of the Stilt Sandpiper, but as others have reported, we saw both
Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs, Pectoral Sandpiper,

White-winged Dove
George and I saw a White-winged Dove at about 9:30 this morning. It was
flying west from the Dune Pond which is west of Devereux.
There were at least 8 Least Terns (2 adults, 6 juvs) and probably

Birders, sorry for the late posting. Yesterday, Saturday between 2:00 and 4:00, Devereux slough had a reddish Red Knot, a probable juv. Semi-palmated Sandpiper, Wilson's Phalaropes, an Osprey fly

Rechecked Devereux at 5.00 and found mostly summer plumaged Red Knot.
Rechecked the UCSB Overlook at dusk. No sign of the Stilt Sandpiper, but
heard a Baird's or Pectoral calling a few

The bird I saw had obvious barring on its flanks. In addition it had worn
dark upperparts with some basic feathers coming through. Juveniles would
have clean pale edging to the scaps, no barring on

Stilt Sandpiper
All:
There was an adult Stilt Sandpiper at the UCSB overlook at noon today - on
the E. end of the main pond. Also 20 Greater Legs, 4 Lesser Legs, 11
Dowitchers (1 juv SB), and 20 Wilson's Phals. The
