Re: The most elegant of terns: Refugio State Beach
Many of the terns in the East Beach flock still show peachy colors on their breasts.
This morning in dense fog, I counted about 625 Elegant Terns on West beach, along with 3 Royal Terns. Thankfully,

The most elegant of terns: Refugio State Beach
I birded the S. end of Refugio Road and Refugio State Beach this AM. The creek crossings were dead, though a Merlin flew through, and the lerpy Eucs in the State Park produced only common warblers.

it would be good if soneone could bird the beach around the SMRE south to Mussel Rock as there are unprecedented numbers of Baird's Sandpipers in SLO and MTY right now.

N. Waterthrush at Bird Refuge
I heard the N. Waterthrush chipping in the willow clump 100 yards or so east of the car park, then enticed it into view for a few seconds. Not much else to report. 6 or 7 Avocets were at the west end,

Nojoqui and SYRE 9-11
I decided to go over to the Valley this morning to see if I could escape the dense coastal fog. In that I was successful and it was less smoky to start than it has been along the coast.
