SYRE Common Terns, etc.
Since this species has become so hard to come by, I thought it was important to let people know that I saw two late first summer Common Terns at Ocean Park with Elegant and Royal Terns on the west

Boat trip on Cachuma Lake today
Dave Compton, Jim Hodgson, and I rented a boat for 5hr, 20min, which cost us $115. A cheap thrill, well worth it. The water level is 38 feet below full, the capacity is 52% of full.

Shorebirding
I walked Sands Beach this morning. The tide was just starting to come in after a very early low tide, so there was plenty of beach and lots of activity from smaller shorebirds: Black-bellied Plovers,

Early Yellow-rumped Warbler at Bella Vista Park this morning
I had a good time birding at Bella Vista Park in Goleta this morning. I did not see the Willow Flycatcher(s) that have been seen there recently, but I did see a nice mix of early migrants, of which

One Brewer's Sparrow still present
Linda and David Blue refound one of the Brewer's Sparrows at Elings Park in approximately the same area that two were seen yesterday. As they did yesterday, the bird seems to feed almost exclusively

Hi All: I found that Jim Hodgson’s post from yesterday made me want to get out and brave the odors at the Bird Refuge this morning! I’ve never seen the shoreline so receded as it was today,
