American Bittern at Lake Los Carneros

This morning at 10 a.m. as George and I stood at the dam at Lake Los Carneros, we watched an American Bittern fly across the water from west to east. We reacquired it around 10:30 a.m. in the south-eastern bay (near the muddy shore) standing in front of reeds. We had excellent looks at this egret-sized bird through binoculars and scope. In the same vicinity, we saw a Wilson's Snipe.
