Cornell/Birdcast on the bird migration

In case you haven't seen it, the Cornell Lab of Ornithology / BirdCast has written about the large movement of migrants in Southern California over the last few days, here:

You can see on radar images how the migration continues into the morning. From these radar images they estimate that, for example, around Los Angeles about 66,000 birds passed by per kilometer in one night. And there's a report from Bear Divide in LA County of almost 14,000 birds in morning flight. This ebird checklist is quite something:
