- Comments: "Continuing. The bird was on the ground, just east of the concrete path that parallels the 3rd base line, due east of the 3rd base bench (near Santa Barbara Dr). I found it with a small flock of Yellow-rumped Warblers, but only one other warbler was on the ground at the time I spotted the Pine Warbler. It was pretty close in size to a Yellow-rumped, and similar in structure, with a brownish olive back, bold white wing bars, and dull, non-contrasting yellow confined to the throat and upper breast. The bird was pale, a dull grayish or dingy white, on the lower belly. A pale area extended backward from the throat and wrapped slightly under and behind the auriculars, which were contrastingly darker. Otherwise, I didn't pick up the face pattern very well. Basically, I got good enough looks to identify the bird, registered a few features that I thought would be good enough for an acceptable description, then focused on getting photos for a minute or two. The bird then flew up into the lower branches of a pine, and somehow got away from me. I searched for it a couple of minutes longer, but traffic increased in the area because of a practice that was starting on the adjacent ball field. So I gave up my search.."
