Wings and back patchy grey, underwings pale with darker grey outer edges. Tail and rump fairly pale, but likely in part due to harsh lighting. Flew buoyantly, usually in loose association with LETEs, occasionally diving for food. Poor photos."

- Comments: "Including 3 juvs. Each of the attached awful cell phone digiscope attempts are of a different bird. All were on the sand bar in the middle of the slough mouth, where the gulls gather. Later, after the birds started moving around, two night-herons flew across the channel farther west, toward the roost near the caretaker's house. Both appeared to be juvenile Yellow-crowned Night-Herons. At that moment, one juvenile was in a tree next to the east end parking lot and two Yellow-crowned Night-Herons were still on the sandbar. So five Yellow-crowned Night-Herons may have been present."

- Comments: "Mostly black-gray body with an oddly-shaped all-black bill that had a sharp downward bend at the very end. His black head was also oddly shaped, with a pronounced bend near the back of the crest. His head also seemed quite narrow as he swam away. Black feet, and most strikingly—he had brilliant gold-colored eyes. He hung out on the lake shore, about 20 feet away from us, for about 20 minutes until he swam off when a dog came around. Photos taken."

- Comments: "I surprised a large buteo on the beach as I came around a headland just north of Mussel Rock; when I saw the bird it was already in the air and flying quickly past me. I didn’t see it well, but just grabbed my camera and got some quick photos. I assumed at the time it was an immature Red-tailed Hawk. When I got home and looked at the photos I got a fun surprise! :-) Intermediate-morph juvenile, dark flight feathers."

Underside of tail mostly whitish, with some gray on sides and at tip. Did not see mantle or rump."

- Comments: "Found a few days ago by Adrian O’Loghlen and Pam Viale. Seen across the creek in the coyote brush from (34.4660197, -120.0692824). That’s a little past from under the bridge towards the north bound ramp. It was overall light gray with a white eye ring and yellow on its rump and the base of its tail. I also noticed a spot of yellow on it’s breast that was harder to see."
