An adult Peregrine Falcon was seen at Goleta Beach Park east of the
Goleta pier at about 9:45 this a.m. The bird was first seen hunting
the flocks of gulls and pigeons on the beach, but it failed to make a
catch. It then went to perch in the bare branches of a tall tree just
to the north.
Also FYI, an adult Peregrine is being seen regularly at Ocean Park in
Lompoc. It is frequently seen perched on the first or second telephone
pole north of the trestle next to the tracks. It's sometimes seen
perched on a snag in the estuary itself, as well as hunting the various
flocks of shorebirds in the marsh.
