Although the Scarlet Tanager at El Capitan State Beach was missed this
morning, it was seen in the large Catalina cherry bush across from campsite
10 and adjacent to the restrooms about 11:00. The bird was still there at
2:00 when a group of birders from the Bay Area went back to look.
In addition, the group took the nature trail that begins just past and to
the left of the kiosk after you enter the park. About 100 feet before the
trail ends on the beach, there is an open place where you can look over the
creek. In a willow was a fall male Magnolia Warbler.
Both good birds worth chasing!!! Please keep me posted.
